The Lady of La Perla, Guillermina (Gigi), opened the Moorish Mansion to guests in 2005. Located in the heart of Guadalajara, La Perla has a rich past with movie stars of the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema and continues the glamour today. It remains the place to meet interesting people. Gigi's son, Cristobal, and his partner, Lorenzo, will make your experience of discovering Guadalajara better than you could have with any other accommodation. Gigi, the Lady of the La Perla, is constantly traveling; however, if you are lucky enough to be here at the same time, she may sing some of her favorite Mexican ballads for you.

YOUR EXPERIENCE AS A GUEST
You do not need to be fluent in Spanish when visiting Guadalajara because we speak English and Spanish. Guests often comment they felt they were with friends the first day. When you arrive, we offer an orientation tour of the Centro and if you are looking for the vibrant night life of Guadalajara, one or two people from the La Perla staff, will even go with you the first night or two, to help you find the clubs you will enjoy the most. We help make the most out of your visit, especially if you are only in Guadalajara for a short time.
The personal time we take with guests to discover Guadalajara is one possible reason guests fall in love with this exciting city: returning for multiple visits and sometimes deciding to retire in this very gay Mexican city. We often have a few local friends, along with our guests staying at La Perla, for dinner on the Rooftop Terrace or in the main dining room on Sunday evenings. Our guests frequently say that even though there are some restaurants open to enjoy, the social interaction with local friends on a Sunday evening has been a highlight of their visit to Guadalajara.

LOCATION
In the Center of GAY Guadalajara: There are over 40 gay bars and clubs in walking distance. They include show bars, discos, stripper bars, upscale martini bars, cafes, restaurants, dark rooms, and bath houses. We will help direct you to the ones that will appeal to your own special taste. The boys and men in our bars and clubs are local residents of the seven million people in Guadalajara.

In the Center of Sightseeing: Located in the Heart of Guadalajara, LA PERLA is in the Colonia Americana and close to the Tren Ligero Subway. We are at the west edge of Centro which covers a square mile surrounding the cathedral. Historic churches, museums, and shops line the pedestrian malls and fountain-filled public squares. Visitors always say they feel like they are in Europe.

Everything is in walking distance: An equal distance walking west of La Perla, you will find a newer, trendy area offering restaurants with epicurean flavors of Jalisco. Whether you want to try the food in this area popular with the local residents, or in the Historical Centro, we will be happy to recommend places to suit your individual taste and different price ranges, including great taco stands and sidewalk cafes for lighter snacks.

SAFETY
If you are not a drug dealer or gun smuggler, the probability of being hurt in Mexico is very unlikely. On the other hand, if you are involved in a love triangle or cause the breakup of a marriage, you may encounter some problems. You can go walking in the middle of the night and never feel nervous about your safety. Just use common sense: you should not wear obviously expensive jewelry or flash a lot of money around. If you are driving or renting a car, we have off street, secure parking.

Being semi-tropical, the weather is described as perpetual spring with stable temperatures between 70º and 80º Fahrenheit year-round.

GETTING HERE
International Airport Pickup - The airport is outside the City, about a half-hour drive from the Centro. We offer round-trip pickup and return, ask for details.
